First introduced in 1986, Snowbabies were inspired by romantic stories of the late 19th explorations of Admiral Robert Peary. Kristi Jensen Pierro was hired to illustrate a new line of figurines and she has been their mother since the very beginning. She uses real children to get the real body language we all see in our children and grandchildren and have grown to love in the Snowbabies.

That first year Kristi drew Snowbabies that became figurines, ornaments and water globes. Her water globe designs were reminiscent of water globes from the late 19th century when water-filled globes were first introduced as souvenirs.
